Developing and marketing a joint ticket management solution for public passenger transport operators

Developing and marketing a joint ticket management solution for public passenger transport operators

The objective of the project was to develop an integrated ticket management solution or joint bus ticketing system that is offered as an all-inclusive package of software and hardware to small transport operators offering inter-city and long-distance fares.

The objective was met via cross-border cooperation of the Estonian company Turnit and the Latvian BMS Tehnologija, by utilizing the Estonian partner’s software development and the Latvian partner’s hardware development expertise in the field of ground-based passenger transportation and by bringing to the market an affordable and practical all-inclusive bus ticketing system that Turnit sells as Turnit Ride.

During the project, together Turnit and BMS accomplished the following:

  • integrated Turnit software with BMS hardware via API and cloud-services into a unified system;
  • designed and prototyped brand new contactless validator;
  • created responsive web and mobile application (iOS and Android) for B2C travel pass and ticket sales;
  • marketed the product at major industry events such as Transport Ticketing Global and The Global Public Transport Summit, as well via LinkedIn and Google AdWords campaigns.
