Project Objective:
The objective of Cross‑Bee is to improve honeybee health by developing and testing sustainable, nature‑based solutions. The project aims to strengthen pollinator resilience by increasing access to late‑flowering nectar plants and by using plant‑based extracts and essential oils as alternatives to chemical treatments.
Key Activities:
- Introducing late‑flowering nectar plants into agricultural systems to improve food availability for bees.
- Testing plant‑derived extracts and essential oils as environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical treatments.
- Joint development and testing of solutions by Estonian and Latvian partners.
- Sharing knowledge and results across the border to support wider uptake of sustainable beekeeping practices.
Expected Results:
- Improved health and resilience of honeybee populations.
- Reduced reliance on chemical treatments in beekeeping.
- Better availability of nectar resources throughout the season.
- Increased knowledge of nature‑based solutions among stakeholders in both countries.
