Project Overview:
ICE CONNECT strengthens cooperation between communities in Marupe (Latvia) and Tartu (Estonia) through youth ice hockey. The project responds to shared challenges such as small player bases, limited resources, and the need for stronger cross‑border sports development. Children, coaches, parents, municipalities and sports clubs take part in joint activities that increase skills, build trust and form long‑lasting collaboration.
Project Objective
The objective is to enhance cooperation between the two communities by developing and promoting youth ice hockey through joint actions, experience exchange and a shared future cooperation plan.
Key Activities
- Joint training camps and tournaments for youth (U10 - U14).
- Summer camps and friendly games in both countries.
- Educational lectures for parents on wellbeing, healthy habits and supportive sports environments.
- Experience exchange between Latvian and Estonian coaches.
- Round‑table discussions with municipalities and sports leaders to create a future cooperation plan.
- Communication activities, including social media updates, press releases, booklets, open hockey days and a hockey festival.
Expected Results:
- Stronger cooperation and trust between Latvian and Estonian hockey communities.
- Improved skills and motivation among young players.
- Better coaching quality through experience exchange.
- Increased parental involvement and awareness.
- A shared plan for future cross-border sports collaboration.
- A more active network of municipalities, NGOs, coaches and families.
