Project Objective:

The project aims to jointly develop a sustainable, low environmental impact fire retardant for use in wooden buildings and timber, suitable for:

  • Exterior and interior applications.
  • Both industrial and home users.

By fostering cross-border knowledge transfer between three universities and two SMEs, the project will:

  • Enhance the competitiveness of MultiPro Systems (Estonia) and BBidea (Latvia).
  • Provide an innovative solution to meet the needs of the Baltic wood and timber industry.
  • Ensure high performance in efficiency, durability, sustainability, low toxicity, and affordability.

Key Activities:

  • Developing fire-retardant formulations for wooden materials.
  • Measuring and evaluating fire performance of treated wood products.
  • Assessing sustainability and ecotoxicity of the fire retardant.
  • Piloting and testing the developed product in an industrial environment.
  • Communicating project results to stakeholders and industry professionals.

Expected Results:

  • A newly developed fire retardant meeting strict environmental and safety standards.
  • Enhanced competitiveness of participating SMEs through innovation.
  • Stronger cross-border collaboration between research institutions and industry.
