FARM Biodiversity

Project Objective:

The project aims to enhance biodiversity in arable fields and grasslands within the Est-Lat programme area by:

• Designing and piloting two practical solutions that support biodiversity and are relevant for local agricultural conditions.
• Facilitating knowledge exchange by engaging 50-70 farmers in best practice sharing for crop production and animal husbandry.

Key Activities:

• Developing two biodiversity-enhancing solutions in collaboration with farmers' associations and research institutions.
• Creating practical guidelines and recommendations for farmers managing arable fields and grasslands.
• Assessing the effectiveness of tested practices through biodiversity monitoring.
• Conducting economic analysis to evaluate the financial benefits of biodiversity measures for farmers.
• Involving 5-7 pilot farms in Estonia and Latvia to test and refine proposed practices.

Expected Results:

• Two practical biodiversity solutions tailored for arable fields and grasslands.
• Improved knowledge and adoption of biodiversity-friendly practices among farmers.
• Reliable data on the effectiveness of biodiversity measures, supported by monitoring results.
• Economic insights into biodiversity-friendly farming, encouraging broader uptake.
• A strengthened cross-border network of farmers and experts focused on sustainable agriculture.
