Total budget: 613.875,00 EUR
ERDF contribution: €491.100,00 EUR
Project Overview:
Small and medium greenhouse vegetable growers in Estonia and Latvia face increasing pressure from large-scale producers and lack access to advanced agronomic tools. This project develops an AI-powered agronomic assistant to help growers improve plant health, optimize resource use and increase crop yields. The assistant will analyse real-time greenhouse conditions and give personalised recommendations for both tomato and cucumber production. The tool will be piloted in two greenhouses Weiss (Estonia) and Kliģeni (Latvia) and refined together with researchers and AI developers.
Project Objective
The aim is to create an AI-based assistant that provides real-time, tailored guidance to greenhouse growers. The tool will help improve plant growth, reduce resource waste, and strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of SMEs involved in greenhouse cultivation.
Key Activities
- Collecting and preparing greenhouse data for AI model training
- Developing AI models and integrating them into an easy-to-use software platform
- Piloting the assistant in real greenhouse environments in Estonia and Latvia
- Refining the system based on daily feedback from growers
- Joint knowledge exchange between agronomists, AI developers, and greenhouse operators
Expected Results:
- A fully developed and user-friendly Agronomist AI assistant
- More efficient and sustainable greenhouse management
- Improved crop yields and reduced resource use for participating SMEs
- Strengthened cross-border cooperation and long-term collaboration between partners
Cross-border cooperation aspect
The project combines Estonia’s strengths in AI development with Latvia’s scientific expertise in greenhouse agronomy and the practical growing experience of two SMEs. Working across borders ensures the assistant fits different greenhouse environments and crop types, making the solution more robust and widely applicable in the Estonia - Latvia region.
