Project Overview
The Active Sustainability project aims to strengthen cross-border connections and cooperation between Estonian (Saaremaa) and Latvian (Salacgrīva–Kuiviži) youth, with a special focus on young sailors. The project fosters collaboration, trust and communication among youth communities along the Gulf of Riga, while increasing awareness of marine environmental opportunities and risks through joint activities.
The project brings together young people from both countries to participate equally in international workshops, practical environmental actions, educational seminars, study visits, and a joint sailing trip. Activities address environmental issues such as marine litter, healthy nutrition, marine science education, and sustainable maritime practices, as well as hands-on sailing skills and teamwork.
Throughout the project, public awareness campaigns will communicate the activities’ impact, environmental goals and cross-border cooperation outcomes to a wider audience through social media, articles, and visual content.
