Project Objective:

The project aims to expand and enhance the joint cross-border tourism product Mapeirons.eu, which connects accessible nature tourism destinations in Estonia and Latvia. The key goals include:

  • Adding new trails, cultural heritage sites, and points of interest.
  • Expanding catering and accommodation services in previously uncovered regions (Vidzeme, South Estonia).
  • Developing 30 safe, reliable, and tested accessible routes (1–3 day trips), including cross-border routes.
  • Ensuring a complete and inclusive travel experience, particularly for travellers with disabilities.

Key Activities:

  • Integration of new accessible routes and destinations, improving tourism infrastructure.
  • Installation of tactile solutions to improve accessibility at:
    • 12 sites in Latvia (Kurzeme and Vidzeme).
    • 9 sites in South Estonia.
  • Implementation of a unified minimum access standard for all locations.
  • Branding the routes with a “Disability Friendly” quality sign to ensure easy identification of inclusive destinations.

Expected Results:

  • An expanded Mapeirons.eu platform with more inclusive destinations.
  • 30 new fully accessible tourism routes, improving travel experiences for all.
  • Increased accessibility in 21 tourism sites through creative and effective tactile solutions.
  • A standardized cross-border approach to accessible tourism.
  • Stronger branding and promotion of disability-friendly travel options in Estonia and Latvia.
