Communication specialists from various Estonia-Latvia cross-border projects gathered in Pärnu, Estonia, for a seminar focused on project communication. The event, organised by the Joint Secretariat of the Estonia-Latvia Programme, was dedicated to effective communication and visibility of the cross-border initiatives.
Insights into the Estonia-Latvia Programme
In the first session, Katrin Juhanson, the Communication Manager from the Joint Secretariat, explained why it is important to tell our target groups and the general public what we are doing in the Programme and in the projects. As an example, Katrin presented the communication objectives of the Estonia-Latvia programme and what types of activities the programme staff is doing to reach its target audience. The second part of the presentation focused on the legal requirements as explained in the visibility guidelines of the Estonia-Latvia programme.
Engaging with Media: Practical Insights
In the second session of the seminar, Signe Ivask, a media relations expert from the University of Tartu, shared her expertise as a researcher and freelance journalist on the role of journalists and the criteria they use to determine newsworthiness. This session included practical group work sessions where the participants had to think about their target audiences and the most effective communication channels for their projects.
Exploring AI Tools in Communication
The third session of the seminar was about AI tools. Kaspars Ruklis, a communication expert and media literacy programme manager, focused on the use of AI tools in daily communication tasks. He highlighted the importance of using these tools ethically and responsibly, especially in creating texts, videos, and other media content.

The participants' feedback on the seminar was positive; the presentations were informative and relevant.
