Call for Action: Interreg Estonia - Latvia Projects Invited to Join RegioStars 2026

18.02.2026 | 17:27

The European Commission has opened the call for the RegioStars 2026 Awards, and we encourage all completed Interreg Estonia - Latvia projects to take part. RegioStars is the European Union’s label of excellence for EU‑funded projects that demonstrate innovative, inclusive and impactful regional development. Participating is a valuable opportunity to highlight your work on a European stage.

Why participate?

  • Showcase your results across Europe. RegioStars finalists and winners benefit from dedicated promotion managed by DG REGIO, bringing visibility to your project’s achievements well beyond the programme area.

  • Gain recognition as an excellent example. RegioStars is a highly respected EU award. Being shortlisted or winning signals that your project stands out in terms of impact, innovation and sustainability.

  • Opportunity to present your project in Brussels. Finalists are invited to join the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels, where they take part in a final selection round, pitch their project to a high‑level academic jury, and join the RegioStars Award Ceremony.

  • Engage the public. All finalists participate in the Public Choice Award, which gives additional visibility through Europe‑wide online voting.

  • Strengthen your communication efforts. Participating in RegioStars offers a strong communication angle for your organisation, your partners and your local community. It is a chance to share your story more widely and increase awareness of cross‑border cooperation.

Who can apply?

Projects can apply directly through the EUSurvey platform, but each application must include an endorsement letter from the Managing Authority of the Estonia - Latvia Programme. Up to five projects may be endorsed by the programme.

To be eligible, your project must:

• have been co‑financed by the EU (including Interreg)
• fall under one of the five award categories, aligned with EU policy objectives
• have started no earlier than 1 January 2014

How to take part?

  1. Review the award categories and criteria.
  2. Prepare your application in one of the official EU languages.
  3. Request an endorsement letter from the Managing Authority.
  4. Submit your application via EUSurvey by 22 May 2026 at 23:59 CET.

We encourage you to apply!

Interreg Estonia-Latvia projects have consistently delivered valuable results for our cross‑border region. RegioStars is an excellent opportunity to highlight that work, inspire others and strengthen the visibility of cooperation between Estonia and Latvia.

If you plan to apply or would like guidance in shaping your application, we are here to support you.
