Today, we're excited to celebrate Europe Day, a special occasion that showcases the spirit of unity and teamwork. This year is even more meaningful because it marks 20 years since Estonia and Latvia joined the European Union. It's also a celebration of 20 years of cross-border cooperation through the Interreg programmes!
The Estonia-Latvia Programme is one of the 73 Interreg cross-border cooperation initiatives under European Territorial Cooperation, known as Interreg.
Our mission is to strengthen ties between regions along the Estonia-Latvia border and bring our communities closer by supporting sustainable and innovative ideas.
These 20 years have brought many amazing projects to life, each leaving a positive impact on our border regions.
Through hundreds of joints initiatives between Estonians and Latvians, together we have:
- Built partnerships between communities in both countries
- Promoted business growth and innovation
- TCreated unique cross-border tourism opportunities
- Developed and shared products and services
- Protected and improved our shared natural resources
