Garden Pearls II

Garden Pearls for all

Project objective and activities:

During years 2018-2020, the partners created the joint tourism product and brand Garden Pearls by involving 76 gardens/parks to the cross-border network that follows jointly set criteria. Now the follow up project objective is to advance Garden Pearls cross-border tourism product by creating and connecting new sites to the network and together with the existing Garden Pearls sites enhance accessibility of tourism product and associated services and incorporate social innovation and inclusion into product and service design process.
The project addresses the lack of accessible tourism options in the Estonia-Latvia border area for people with disabilities, limited mobility, or other special needs (families, elderly people, people with mental impairments).

The project's outputs include a common standard for accessible garden tourism development, an online accessible Garden Pearls webpage, and training for stakeholders in the garden tourism industry. In addition, the project will undertake 13 pilot initiatives and 4 general investment activities to enhance and assess the accessibility of gardens and parks in the Garden Pearls network. Based on the pilots jointly developed solutions will be implemented in 17 gardens.
