Project Overview:

The programme area faces a common challenge of insufficient physical activity and limited participation in outdoor recreational activities, particularly among young people. Orienteering is awesome brings together communities from Estonia and Latvia to promote active lifestyles, strengthen social connections and encourage greater participation in outdoor sport.

The project creates opportunities for people from both countries to take part in joint training activities, seminars, training camps and orienteering events. The activities are designed to increase participation in sport and to build stronger links between the orienteering communities of the two neighbouring countries.

Project Objective

The project aims to increase physical activity, strengthen community engagement and build long-term cross-border cooperation between orienteering clubs and participants in Estonia and Latvia through joint sports activities and people-to-people contacts.

Key Activities

  • Organisation of joint seminars and training camps for participants from Estonia and Latvia.
  • Participation in orienteering events organised by partner clubs in both countries.
  • Exchange of experience and knowledge between the partner organisations.
  • Promotion of active outdoor lifestyles among young people and local communities.
  • Use of modern equipment and technical solutions to improve the quality and attractiveness of events.

Expected Results:

  • Increased participation in cross-border orienteering activities and events.
  • Greater involvement of community members in outdoor sports and recreational activities.
  • Stronger cooperation between Estonian and Latvian orienteering clubs.
  • Improved people-to-people contacts and mutual trust across the border.
  • A foundation for continued cross-border cooperation in orienteering after the project ends.
