Water management

More efficient management of common water resources

We would like to intensify cooperation between institutions responsible for the management of the Gulf of Riga and Gauja/Koiva and Salaca/Salatsi river basins. The programme is expecting at least 5 joint management initiatives at those water bodies.

Within the 1st call for proposals projects SAFE SEA and GURINIMAS were for a total 0.8 million euros of support. Within 2nd call projects, GroundEco and WBWB were selected and it led to a total of 6 joint management initiatives to be implemented. 5th call for proposals also was open for priority 2 with total available funding of 2.5 million euros. The 5th call closed on 3 June 2019 and the monitoring committee took the selection decisions about two new projects DAML and WaterAct in December 2019.

4 projects SAFE SEA, GURINIMAS, WBWB and GroundEco have ended their activities.
