The European Cooperation Day is designed to celebrate the success of the European Territorial Cooperation and tell more people about the benefits of this kind of cooperation in the regions. Estonia - Latvia programme every year since 2012 is celebrating European Cooperation Day by organizing various events.
To go far, go together
To go far, go together is the byline of European Cooperation Day 2017 and is designed to note the success of European territorial cooperation over the past 25 years.
Borders have become bridges. We care about the environment and innovation. Not only in our own territory but also across borders. We are neighbours. And we are united with them by the sea or rivers. We all seem closer. Today we are better connected and together we find solutions to common problems. It is the only way.
For the first time the cross-border kick-bike ride was organized from Treimani (Estonia) to Ainaži (Latvia). The day was marked with joint clean-up of the shores of the Gulf of Riga and making sand sculptures.
Already many more fans joined the kick-bike ride. This time from the Estonian border to Ķoņi mill. The programme also made a good use of the restored Seda river – Karksi-Nuia road, which also is the Baltic Way. Great improvements were done at the Lilli Nature Centre (Estonia) and inspiring workshops, like braed baking, were organized in Ķoņi Mill (Latvia).
Ape – Vastse Roosa 2017
On 23 September 2017 in Ape and Vastse Roosa Estonia – Latvia Programme will celebrate Estonian-Latvian cooperation in the joint event “Tour de LatEst on kick-bike”. For the 3rd time the fans of kick-biking will be enjoying the ride. This year we will explore the veloroute “Tour de LatEst” and the Ape-Mõniste road. It is also planned to work jointly for the public good in Ape (Latvia) and then move to Vastse Roosa (Estonia) for workshops and celebration of the day. All projects are invited to form teams from partners and plan participation in the “Tour de LatEst on kick-bike”.
